ABSTRACT

The quantification and monitoring of biogenic amines is food products and medical samples are usually performed by means of appropriate analytical high cost equipment or panel taste. However, recently the development and use of electronic sensory systems (e-tongue) were applied to the analysis of complex liquid samples. The advantages of an electronic system, in comparison with the human tasting system include: higher objectivity, invariable response with time that contribute to the success of routine analysis. The sensibility of these equipments can be below of human taste threshold. The idea of this project consist in the realization of a sensors and biosensors array, coupled with corresponding hardware and software, with special sensibility and selectivity for biogenic amine compounds, with potential applications in food industry and laboratory diagnosis. Different types of sensors and biosensors will be developed. Two type of database will be constructed: one for quantification of specific analyte, and the second for classification of the samples in function of their characteristic. The objective is, in the same time, to miniaturize maximum possible the detector system in order to minimize the quantity of sample necessary. No or slight pretreatment of sample, is other purpose. The electronic sensory system could be purposed for the large scale production of compact and portable device, exporting the research prototype to a pre-industrial device.
